Armed Forces to be Expanded - said new Defence Chief

The new head of the Brikvanian Defence Ministry, former Malatian leader Nutyubrick, has visited several Brikvanian military units to assess their capabilities and morale.

The most recent visit was to the 1st Commando Regiment of the Armed Forces of Brikvania (AFBv).

According to Nutyubrick, the AFBv in general is lacking in good leadership, system and equipment. 'We have good soldiers led by poor generals. From now on, we are going to replace many of these old generals with better ones",  said Nutyubrick in an interview.

He explained that the poor leadership in the AFBv led to lack of equipment, with only about 20% of AFBv units are fully equipped to fight a war.  He further highlighted that during the recent conflict in the Malatian Province, AFBv troops had to buy their own helmets, and supply of ammunition was low.

In his first measure as the Defence chief, Nutyubrick had announced the retirement of the chief of army, navy and air force. Another 8 military commanders from the infantry and air force, along with 15 senior officials from the Defence Ministry, have been sacked.

Training for AFBv troops are being revamped, and 4 new recruiting centres are opened throughout the kingdom to recruit more troops.

Nutyubrick announced that he was aiming to have 8 full-time battalions backed by another 8 reserve battalions for the AFBv. 6 of the full-time battalions will be regular infantry troops, along with 2 commando battalions.

"We hope by the end of the year we will have 16 infantry battalions, enough to defend ourselves", said Nutyubrick.
