In a surprise move, the Royal Government of Equanter has declared a State of Emergency late last night. The State of Emergency will give the security forces extra powers to enforce law and order.
In a communique released by the Royal Prime Minister Office late last night, the Royal Government proclaimed a State of Emergency will take effect from 11 pm tonight. The armed forces and police have been given the power to enforce curfew, and to take over private properties for defence and security purposes.
"The State of Emergency will allow our armed forces to secure our territorial integrity, especially in the Eastern Province near Malatia," said a Royal Government Spokesman.
In the meantime, government positions in Eastern Province have been reinforced with new military units. As of now, about 2,000 royal troops from 1st King's Own Regiment and 6th Lord Regiment have been deployed in the Eastern Province, in addition to almost 1,000 troops deployed initially. Some 100 Kingdom of Lego Special Forces troops have also been deployed since last month. The main role of these Kingdom of Lego Special Forces is to train Equanterian troops for the much awaited offensive to secure Smallville, a town besieged by the rebels since a month ago.
