Brikvania Receives First Batch of Warplanes for Air Force

Brikvania has received six warplanes from Malatia as part of the Malatian military assistance to the small kingdom.

The six Mag-29 Gypaetus warplanes  are about twenty years old and have been upgraded by Malatia before being delivered to Brikvania. The upgrading works include a new radar and communication system for the old warplanes.

These warplanes have been decommissioned from service since the 1990s and have been stored at several unused air bases in Malatia. Duirng the last war with the Kingdom of Lego, Brikvania has requested if Malatia could sell the  Mag-29 Gypaetus  at a cheap price. Malatia decided to spend $10 million Brick dollars to upgrade the warplanes and donate it to Brikvania.

King Brik II was at the Royal Bricktown Airbase to welcome the warplanes which were flown by Brikvanian pilots. The pilots had received their training in Malatia.

"These warplanes will increase our air defence capabilities. We are also awaiting several batteries of surface-to-air missiles from Malatia which are coming soon.", said King Brik II.

The Ambassador of Malatia was also present in the ceremony at the Briktown airbase.

The six Mag-29 warplanes would serve as interceptors  as currently Brikvania does not have warplanes to protect its airspace from intruding  warplanes. These warplanes can be equipped with two air to air missiles, but are also equipped to perform bombing role as each could carry up to four 250 kg unguided bombs.

The Chief of Air Force informed the media that these warplanes would form the 1st Interceptor Squadron.  Brikvania will await for Malatia to donate a further three to five Mag-29 warplanes. 

"These warplanes will be sufficient to protect our airspace for now.  We will  also receive better air defence system soon", said an Air Force spokesman.

Observers believed that the six Mag-29 warplanes would not change the balance of power in the region as Brikvanian military is small and are equipped mostly with donated equipment.
