Brikvania Reorganises Territorial Defence

As threats of a possible war with the Kingdom of Lego grow larger, Brikvania announced several reforms to its defence forces to better prepare the kingdom against external threats.

Currently, the provinces of Legolis and Malatian have their own local defence force, along with the Kingdom's own Armed Forces of Brikvania (AFBv). The reforms strengthen AFBv hold over the two provinces defence units.

Under the previous structure, the Legolis Province is defended by a 4,500 strong Legolis Provincial Army (LPA) while the province of Malatia has a 2,000 strong troops under the Malatian Province Security Force (MPSF).  The security of the Brik Province is under the Kingdom's main military force, the AFBv.

The military reforms will see the LPA and MPSF renamed as Home Guards Legolis Province and Malatian Province respectively. They will work closely with AFBv as more senior ranking AFBv officers will be posted within these territorial defence units.

Arms and equipment for all the three defence forces will be standardised. Currently the LPA is equipped with 1970s and 1980s weapons while the MPSF has a more modern weapon system courtesy of Malatia.

"The reform will further strengthen the capabilities of Brikvania to defend our border", said a Brikvanian Defence Ministry press release.

The first phase of the reforms program will see the standardisation of military uniform across all the three provinces, while the second phase will involve the replacement of obsolete tanks and artillery with more modern ones.
