What caused the Malatian rebellion in Equanter's Eastern Province? Many experts believed the root of the rebellion was planted when Equanter and Malatia gained independence from their colonial master in the 1960s and 1970s. |
The Malatians residing in Eastern Province identified themselves as part of the Malatia Totalitarian Republic. Since Equanter's independence, the Malatians in Equanter have lobbied for the breakaway of the Eastern Province from the kingdom and to join Malatia as one state. After several security crackdown by the Royal Police that saw the arrests of several Malatian politicians in Equanter, the extremists within the Malatiann population formed the Inglorious State in Lego (ISIL), with the objective of pulling Eastern Province into Malatia.
On the other hand, Malatia sees the Kingdom of Equanter, Kingdom of Fabu, Kingdom of Suva and Kingdom of Lego as its military area of influence. With its economy booming in the 1990s and into the 21st century, Malatia has enlarged and modernised its armed forces. It has 800,000 soldiers, more than 2,000 tanks, 600 warplanes and 180 warships of various sizes.
The Malatian military dictatorship views the rebellion in Equanter as a strong justification to intervene militarily into the small Kingdom in order to protect all overseas Malatians - which mean a total war across the region may happen.
