Coup Attempt Defeated - Gunmen Believed To Be Malatian Agents

Troops from the Royal Suvanese Army (RSA) have began security operations in the capital city in the aftermath of the deadly coup attempt a few days ago.

Meanwhile, Suva has accused Malatia of sending its agents to overthrow the Royal Family.

The accusation from Suva added fuel to the already tense relation between the kingdom and its larger neighbour, Malatia.

According to sources from the Suva Defence Ministry, five of the gunmen killed during the coup attempt had Malatian identity cards on them. Witnesses have also claimed that remnants of the coup plotters and gunmen had fled towards Malatia.

The coup attempt took place a few days ago when gunmen attacked the Royal Palace, Suva Defence Ministry complex and RSA main barrack in the capital city.

Fighting between the gunmen and RSA troops were heavy. Some 23 RSA troops were killed or wounded in the coup attempt.

The Kingdom of Lego has condemned the Malatian involvement in the coup attempt in Suva.
