Election 2020: Campaigns Heating Up

The election debate in Legonia is heating up as the campaigns of the three main parties are in the last stretch before voting takes place. A survey by the Royal University reveals that the Royal Party (RP) is leading in preference polls in 45 constituencies while the Party United Bricks (PUB) is close at 44.

The Royal Party (RP) is campaigning for a more inclusive Bricks community, pursuing a policy of healthcare cover for all Legonians, along with a more friendly foreign policy.

In a rally last night attended by 50,000 supporters, Sir Winston Mofty told his supporters why RP is a better choice than PUB. 

"We do not seek to make Legonia a welfare state. But a country is made up by its people. The economy should serve the needs of the people, not the other way round. The current economic policies implemented by Wingo only serve the rich, with low tax for them and high taxes for the middle-class", said Sir Mofty.

"Every single Legonian deserve to have his or her health taken care of by the Kingdom. The last pandemic shows that a good government can reduce the infection and death rate", added Sir Mofty.
 
Attacking his rival from the PUB, Sir Mofty said that: "The PUB under Snitch argues that the government should be kept small, and  that our Bricks community should be for the strongest who can survive. If that is the case,  it is every Bricks for itself.  But Lego bricks are stronger when all pieces come together, interlocking and supporting each other."

In another rally, Snitch claimed that Sir Mofty is the King's stooge. Without providing any evidence, Snitch said that  Sir Mofty will only serve the wishes of  King Arius.  

"The PUB will check King Arius' powers. We will fight for a smaller government, so that the people of this kingdom could manage their own lives. Your real freedom is obtained when there is a smaller government that does not tell you what to do", said Snitch Brickonell, leader of PUB.

When questioned by reporters later that his argument for a smaller government was not in line with the fact that he had sought government bailout to support his investment firm during the last economic crisis, Snitch said that "my investment firm is a private matter. Don't bring it into politics".
