As the military conflict in Eastern Province of Equanter continues, King William II had written to the Secretary General of the United Nations to send peacekeepers to the Kingdom to end possible military invasion by Malatia.
The United Nations Secretary General Mr Grey Hary announced that the United Nations is considering sending peacekeepers to Equanter to ensure the sovereignty of the kingdom against a possible threat by Malatia. Speaking at a press conference after an urgent meeting at the Security Council Chamber, Mr Hary briefed the media that the news alleging Malatia is supplying weapons to the ISIL rebels in Equanter is disturbing. "Malatia must respect the territorial integrity of Equanter although I understand there are conflicts between the Equanterians and Malatians minority in the Kingdom."
"At this point in time the UN is considering to send up to 200 troops and peace observers under the banner of ESFOR - Equanter Stabilization Force. The troops will come from regional countries, and the Kingdom of Suva has agreed to supply the majority of the peacekeeping troops"."
Malatia Defence Ministry rejected United Nations' allegation that it is threatening Equanter. "We are only protecting overseas Malatians who are being mistreated by Equanter. We will use force if necessary," said a Malatian Defence Spokesman.
Meanwhile on the ground, heavy fighting is still taking place around Smallville as government reinforcements are battling their way to reach the besieged town of Smallville.
