Government Troops Recapture Rebel-held Towns

Brikvanian government troops have recaptured rebel-held towns in Brik Province in a swift offensive against the ethnic Malatian rebel forces.

The offensive is taking place after the rebels were routed during a major assault on Briktown, the capital of Brikvania. 

Brikvanian troops  from the 3rd and 6th Regiment have swept the areas north of the capital since this morning facing little resistance from the rebels.

Residents reported that the rebels have fled towards the Malatian Province of Brikvania. "The rebels have robbed the local bank before they fled to the border", said a local resident.

General Nutyubrick, the new Brikvanian Defence Minister, has commended the bravery of government troops in repelling the attacks on Briktown.

In a press conference held at Brown Castle, the seat of the Brikvanian government, General Nutyubrick announced that a total of 3,400 rebels were killed during the assualt on the capital. A further 2,400 were wounded with another 1,000 captured. 

"Some of the rebels are not from Brikvania. We suspect that they are members of the Malatian military", said General Nutyubrick.

Malatia has denied being involved in the civil war in Brikvania. "The Malatians that were caught are fighting the Brikvanian government in their private capacities. We cannot stop every single Malatian who wish to fight for their brothers", said a Malatian Foreign Affairs official.

Meanwhile Brown Castle said that police and medical staff will be sent to the recaptured territories to maintain law and order, and to ensure the residents medical needs are taken care of.
