Organised crimes are increasing at an alarming rate in the Kingdom of Equanter. The infamous drug gang led by El Loco is believed to be responsible for a wave of crime in Maname and De Quan, the two largest cities in the country.

The Loco Drug Cartel was believed to be responsible for an attack on a police convoy outside Maname two days ago. The attack led to the death of 3 policemen, with 4 others injured, and at the same time freeing up to 14 of their gang members which were just arrested by the police a few hours before the ambush.

It is believed the Locos, as they are known, are heavily armed with machine guns supplied by Malatia. Most of the gang members are ethnic Malatians.

The Locos have been operating in the Eastern Province of Equanter since about 2 years ago, and are now the biggest suppliers of drugs and weapons in the region.

The leader of the Locos is known as El Loco, believed to be born some 35 years ago. He has been in and out of prison since the age of 18 years, and slowly rose to the leadership rank within the gang with his ruthlessness.

Ever since the civil war in Equanter, police presence in the Eastern Province is lacking and the Locos have taken over some villages and small towns. Since last month, they began robbing banks in the city of Maname. So far 3 banks have been robbed, and two police posts were destroyed by the Locos.

The ambush on as police convoy outside Maname is an escalation of crime wave by the Locos. 10 Policemen were escorting 14 detained Locos gang members from Maname to De Quann when their convoy was attacked by 100 Locos. The outnumbered policemen ran away but some were captured and killed.

A spokesman for the Royal Police Service said that the crime situation in the Eastern Province is under control. " More policemen will be sent to the Province in due cause," he added.

The Police Commissioner is not available for comment.
