Low Budget Led To Defence Cut in Brikvania

The poor financial condition in Brikvania is causing the Royal Government to review its defence needs.

​King Brik II has informed the Royal Council that  the defence budget will be cut by 35% within the next 3 months.

There will be a further cut to manpower. The army will be reduced to a total of three battalions comprising of two infantry regiments and 1 regiment of special forces and support units. The total strength of the Armed Forces of Brikvania (AFBv) will be capped at 12,500 personnel.

Prince Aragon, the Defence Minister, confirmed that Brikvania has approached Malatia and Legonia for defence assistance. 

"We are asking Malatia to provide armoured vehicles, artillery and vehicles for our army", said Prince Aragon.

However, it is not confirmed if Malatia has agreed to provide more military assistance to Brikvania, especially since Malatian leader President Xitin had challenged Brikvania's sovereignty. 

It was reported that some Brikvanian defence officials were unhappy with the defence cuts. The reduction in military size would lead to more posts being axed, and some of the posts would include high ranking officials.
