Malatia Invades Kingdom of Lego - Heavy Fighting At War Front

More than 300,000 Malatian soldiers backed by 1,500 tanks and 2,000 armoured vehicles have invaded the Kingdom of Lego earlier this morning.

Initial reports indicated that Malatian forces have penetrated some 15 km inside Kingdom of Lego, capturing several small villages along the border. 

Several Malatian rockets were launched towards the capital city of Legotown but they were shot down by the Royal Armed Forces of Lego (RAFL) air defence system. Malatian jets have bombed military targets and major cities within the first few hours of the invasion.

At 5 am this mornng, after an intense two hours of artillery bombardment, Malatian infantry troops moved out from their forward positions along the border. Backed by tanks and armoured vehicles, the Malatian troops have captured several Legos border outposts and are now reported to be moving towards the town of Smallville in central Kingdom of Lego, and the coastal city of Caslanca in the south.

The Kingdom of Lego Defence Ministry has issued a comunique: " Earlier this morning, Malatian military forces have violated our Kingdom's territories. Heavy fighting are taking place along a 100 km wide front. The RAFL troops along the border have repelled several Malatian attempts to capture the town of Smallville."

The Malatian forces are divided into two groups. The main column consisting of 250,000 troops are trying to push towards central Kingdom of Lego.  Another column of about 50,000 troops have headed south. The southern column is trying to cut off the Kingdom of Lego's city of Caslanca from the rest of the country. In a surprise move, Malatian forces are deploying more tanks and armoured vehicles on the ground than what their official records have shown. The large number of tanks have enabled them to engage the outnumbered RAFL troops easily.

Air raid sirens were sounded in major Kingdom of Lego's cities. At about 3 am this morning, Malatian warplanes began bombing the major population centre including Legotown,  Caslanca and Lorni. The major military centre at Fort Lego was also attacked by Malatian warplanes.

Heavy anti-aircraft guns were deployed by RAFL forces to counter the air attacks. Some 14 Malatian warplanes were shot down by RAFL air defence system.  Another 8 were shot down during air to air combat with the Royal Lego Air Force (RLAF) warplanes.

NARTO countries such as the Kingdom of Fabu and Caledon Neutral Territory have condemned the invasion, and have mobilised their entire militaries on a war footing. Defence ministers from all NARTO countries will be meeting in Legotown to coordinate their response to the Malatian invasion of Kingdom of Lego.

Meanwhile, the Malatian Defence Ministry announced that the invasion was a response to the threat posed by the Kingdom of Lego. As news of the invasion began to spread throughout Malatia, thousands of Malatian First Party's members went out in the streets to celebrate the war.
