Malatia Surrendered - Peace at Hand

After more than a year of conflict, beginning with the Malatian invasion of the Kingdom of Suva, the regional war has finally ended.

Under military pressure from NARTO forces,  the new Malatian military government led by Nutyubrick signed a ceasefire with NARTO countries yesterday evening. The agreement allowed for the annexation of western Malatia, and the creation of a new Kingdom of Brikvania inside Malatian territories.

The ceasefire was signed after nearly two weeks of NARTO military offensive inside Malatia. The collapse of the Malatian defence line along the border, and the almost total destruction of the Malatian air force and navy, put pressure on the Malatian military to take action to avoid the total occupation of the country.

Field Marshal Nutyubrick, the Commander of all Malatian forces, took over power from Chancellor Klump government last week, as NARTO forces were rushing towards the capital. The takeover of government machinery allowed the military to quickly set up a secret contact point with NARTO forces to discuss the ending of the war.

According to sources, NARTO countries issued an ultimatum for the Malatian military to accept a non-conditional surrender of Malatia, along with the redrawing of the borders and the creation of a new kingdom in western Malatia. As the Malatian army was crumbling and NARTO troops just about 10 km from Maltia, Field Marshal Nutyubrick had no choice but to accept the NARTO's ultimatum.

"The western part of Malatia is not that important as the Malatian oil fields lie in the east. The loss of western Malatia is not great at all, as the region is economically backward. We have no choice but to accept the ultimatum. If not, the whole of Malatia will be under military occupation," said Field Marshal Nutyubrick.

The ceasefire agreement requires NARTO forces to pull back 50 km away from the capital city of Maltia, and United Nations peacekeepers will be deployed to keep watch along the newly created border.
