The streets of Malatia are full of shops selling cheap food and goods.

The Malatian economy has grew rapidly in the past 6 months, as the price of oil and gas have shot up.

Agricultural production has also grew, as the Malatian government sought to improve the economy after the last regional war.

Prices of staples such as wheat, pasta and wines have dropped drastically, making the cost of living in Malatia as one of the lowest in the region.

The rapid economic growth in Malatia is a result of an economic transformation program launched by the post-war Malatian Government under General Nutyubrick. Money that in the past was spent on the military was diverted to agricultural and food manufacturing industries.

The lower cost of food and staples meant that many visitors from regional countries visited Malatia and spent their money in the country.

In the last 3 months, Malatia received 400,000 visitors from Fabu, Equanter and Suva. These visitors entered Malatia to purchase cheaper staples and food, and their spending meant more revenue for the Malatian Government.

Higher oil prices has also bring in more cash to the Malatian Government.

Observers noted however that the Malatian military is still receiving large amount of cash. Some 20% of the recent government budget was set aside for the Malatian armed forces.

"What we are seeing is the shrinking of the Malatian military in term of size, but in actual fact there has been an improvement in their quality," said Professor Nutty Bric of the Royal Brivania University.

According to Professor Bric, the Malatian army has been reduced from 40 Divisions to 25. However, the number of special forces, tanks and armoured vehicles have increased. Malatia is also working to improve its air defence system, which has been destroyed in the last regional war.
