Malatian forces have captured Maname from Equanterian troops late last night following two days of heavy fighting. The fall of Maname has opened the road for Malatian forces to move towards the capital city of Equanter, De Quan.

Some 35,000 Malatian troops had attacked the city from 3 directions. The 2,000 Equanterian troops defending the city put up stiff resistance before they were almost encircled. By 8 pm last night, Malatian forces have entered the surburbs of Maname and engaged the Equanterian troops in a bloody street to street fighting.

Equanterian reinforcements from the capital city of De Quan were sent to Maname but they were repelled by Malatian forces that had encircled the city. Aerial bombardment from the Royal Lego Air Force (RLAF) warplanes however had suppressed Malatian forces around Maname, and allowed some of the 2,000 strong defenders to flee towards De Quan.

In a communique released late last night, the Equanterian Defence Ministry announced: " Equanterian troops had suffered some losses in the battle of Maname. Strategic retreats were made and a new but stronger defensive line has been formed around the capital De Quan."

The King of Equanter has assured his subjects on National TV last night and issued a statement: "Our armed forces is strong enough to defend our Kingdom.  Our soldiers will repel the evil invaders soon. I urge all my subjects to stand together in the face of Malatian aggression."

The fall of Maname means that only the capital city De Quan and its surrouding surburbs are in the hand of Equanterian government forces., with most of the countryside in the hand of Malatian forces. The capital city of De Quan is now totally cut off on land from the rest of the country.

Reports from Equanter Broadcasting Corp (EBC) indicated some forward elements of the Malatian forces have already engaged Equanterian defenders outside De Quan. The Equanterian Defence Ministry has not confirmed the report.s

At the Royal Harbour Dockyard in De Quan, thousands of people tried to board the last two cruise ships that were deployed to evacuate Equanterians from the war, and in the city itself, more police officers were seen guarding key installations.
