Rebels Captures Two More Towns: Capital Under Threat

Rebel forces have captured two main towns in the Brik Province as they sweep across the kingdom. The town of Brikduz and Brikghan were captured by ethnic Malatian rebels last night despite Malatian call for the rebels to halt their advance.

Government forces had pulled back towards several districts surrounding the capital city of Brikvania, Briktown.

The town of Brikghan with  a population of 8,000 residents, were defended by some 900 Brikvanian troops. Brikghan is located deep inside the Province of Brikvania, and some 24 km south of Briktown, the capital city of Brikvania.

There is not much supports from the local population for the ethnic Malatian rebels. The capture of the town therefore came as a shock to the government in Briktown.

Rebel forces have also captured the town of Brikduz, located some 28 km north of Briktown. The fall of Brikduz is a big loss to the government, as it was defended by elite commando units of the Brikvanian army. The town is a key farming centre for Brikvania, and produces 50% of Brikvanian vegetables.

The fall of Brikduz and Brikghan meant that the capital city of Briktown is under threat from the north and south. Briktown is now only linked to Midea, the provincial of capital of Malatian Province in Brikvania, and the Legos Province located in the far west.

Rebel forces have put pressure on Midea and Main Highway  1 connecting Midea to Briktown. Currently, Midea is defended by some 3,000 government troops.

There are reports that the rebels are now focussing on Brikdahar, a town connecting the capital city to Legos Province and Legonia. Brikdahar is located 19 km west of Briktown. The fall of Brikdahar would lead to an encirclement of the capital city by the rebels.

Government reinforcement are being sent to Brikdahar, currently defended by 600 men from the 4th Brikvanian Regiment. 

In Briktown, King Brik II has met with ethnic Legos leaders to obtain their supports against the ethnic Malatian rebels.
