Riots took place in Eastern Province

Royal Police Service (RPS) riot units were kept busy as several riots against the Royal Government took place in Eastern Province. It is believed the riots were instigated by Malatian covert agents.

The riots started in the town of Smallville when two local Malatians were arrested by the Royal Police for smuggling weapons from Malatia. About 100 residents attacked the local police station and set it on fire.

Two troops from the RPS riot units were sent from Maname  to quell the rioters. However riots spread to other small villages and a platoon of United Nations (UN) peacekeepers was deployed to keep the peace.

Tension in the region is high as Malatia has been deploying its military forces along its border with Equanter.
